Pippa Davismoon

A Souvenir of Epping Forest
The current work is based on walks in Epping Forest this winter. Pippa was inspired by the light through the beech and hornbeam branches to make vessels echoing the pollarded trees of this forest. By ‘stretching’ coloured frit between layers of clear glass, she evokes the sense of the trees’ gnarled appearance. These vessels suggest the past activity of the woods. The layered panels depict a glimpse of the woods when you stop and see light through the trees. Light is caught with coloured glass behind layers of sandblasted and screen-printed images.
